Post Production on ‘Call Me Nancy’ Nears Completion
After two and a half years of development my short film ‘Call Me Nancy’ is in the can and almost through post production. A passion projected that I wrote and directed, it joins Nancy Daly (played by the simply wonderful, Ally Ní Chiaráin) in a moment of crisis. A widow of 20 years and devout vegetarian living in a gossipy old town in rural Ireland, Nancy is deeply in love with the local butcher Mr. Quinn (Donncha Crowley, just brilliant). Tired of living a lie, she must make her move, now or never. It is a film about love, of self and of others, where age is not a barrier to rebirth.
While writing this film I was reflecting on our many losses during the pandemic. I wanted to tell a story of older adults, who bore the brunt of the last few years and are woefully under represented on screen outside of ageist tropes. ‘Call Me Nancy’ is just a human story. A moment of crisis in someone’s life. One that I hope will resonate with audiences at home and abroad.
Love and respect to my cast and crew. See you at the pictures ;)
